Enjoy chic Chateau accommodation near Garonne, France |
There has been a chateau on the current site since the 13th century. Originally fortified to collect taxes on the Garonne at the port of Saubio in the time of Albret, burnt by the English during the 100 years war, extended and altered by various owners; the chateau is a grand building, with it’s remaining twin towers an imposing feature viewed from the canal below. |

The Chateau is secluded on it’s hill above the canal, surrounded by its 5ha (20 acre) park. The parklands feature many “outdoor rooms” with formal rose gardens, woodlands, meadows sown with wild flowers, treed walks, lawn and terrace areas. The northern boundary of the Chateau Sauvin park has a 400 meter frontage on the beautiful Canal du Lateral, with private access to the tow paths, boat mooring and the canal itself. We have canoes (kajaks) and bikes available for guests to discover the canal and exploit it’s enchanting beauty. To the south facing courtyard of the chateau is a large (14x7metre) swimming pool, summer kitchen and pool house; the full size professional hard tennis court and of course a bouledrome”. “Chez Kelly” at the Chateau Sauvin is only accessible to and servicing our house guests. |
